Las Vegas is a legend unto itself: Sin City, the Glitter Gulch, the Entertainment Capital of the World. Las Vegas has been immortalized in hundreds of films, books, and songs, but nothing can really beat the feeling of experiencing this vibrant city in the desert for yourself! Next time you’re heading to Las Vegas, don’t limit yourself to the Strip; rent a car that fits your Vegas style and live it up in the City of Lights to your brightest potential.
What to See in Las Vegas
Las Vegas is renowned the world over for its iconic ‘Strip’, phenomenal casinos and resorts, and first class entertainment. Hit the Strip to experience the heat and the hurry for yourself. Pop into one of the 31 casinos that line the Strip to place some bets or to play those slots. Walking between a few casinos is a cinch, though the Strip itself reaches over four miles, so the best way to reach all of those casinos would be with your own wheels.
Is gambling not your thing? Not to fear, Las Vegas still has much to offer. The entertainment in Las Vegas is undoubtedly some of the country’s best, with Cirque de Soleil, illusionists, escape artists, magicians, musicians, dancers, burlesque troupes, Broadway Theatre, and even Celine Dion! After your show, head out to one of the many buzzing hot spots to kick up your heels in one of the world’s most infamous nightlife scenes.
But there is more to Las Vegas than the Strip and the shows. The Red Rock Canyon lies an easy drive west of the Strip into the Mohave Desert. The sandstone cliffs leave visitors in awe at the breathtaking geological layers in this national conservation area. The Valley of Fire State Park is north of the city and its rolling desert landscapes and inimitable rock formations make guests feel like they have landed on the moon. Afterwards, a dip in nearby Lake Mead is just the thing to beat that desert heat. A drive up to the Hoover Dam is also well within your reach once you get out of the city. You can see the Dam from above via the pedestrian bypass or, if a water adventure is more your style, join a kayaking tour into the river below.
Of course, nothing within driving distance of Las Vegas is as grand as the grandest of them all, the Grand Canyon. So fill up that gas tank and head five hours east to see one of the Natural Wonders of the World for yourself. The viewpoints of the Grand Canyon should be enough enticement in themselves, but if you are an adventurer, the Grand Canyon National Park is home to hundreds of miles of hiking trails.
